Creating an account is simple and secure. Just enter your email address, and we'll send you a 6-digit verification code (OTP). Enter the code, and you're in. No passwords to remember - we use OTP-based authentication for better security.

Split AI supports 100+ currencies from around the world, including INR, USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, CAD, JPY, SGD, AED, and many more. You can set your preferred default currency in Settings, and each expense can use a different currency if needed. The app handles currency display and formatting automatically.

There are four main methods to split expenses fairly:

• Equal Split - Divide the total evenly among all members. Best when everyone consumed similarly.
• Percentage Split - Assign custom percentages based on consumption (e.g., 60-40 for a couple vs. individual).
• Split by Shares - Assign shares proportional to usage. Someone who ate more gets 2 shares while others get 1.
• Exact Split - Each person pays exactly what they consumed. Most precise but requires itemized tracking.

The best method depends on the situation. For casual meals, equal splits work fine. For mixed consumption, percentage or exact splits are fairer.

Debt simplification is an algorithm that minimizes the number of transactions needed to settle all debts in a group. Here's how it works:

1. Calculate net balances for each person (total paid minus total owed)
2. Separate into creditors (owed money) and debtors (owe money)
3. Match the largest debtor with the largest creditor and settle as much as possible in one transaction
4. Repeat until all debts are cleared

In a group of 5 with complex cross-debts, this can reduce 10+ individual payments to just 3-4 transactions.

Create a group for your flat or apartment, then:

• Rent: Use equal split (or percentage split if rooms are different sizes)
• Utilities: Use equal split for most cases, or percentage if usage differs significantly
• Groceries: Log each grocery run. The running balance ensures everything evens out
• Subscriptions: Track shared Netflix, WiFi, etc. as regular expenses

The app tracks running balances so you don't need to settle after every expense. Settle up weekly or monthly.

Group trips are where Split AI shines. Here's the recommended approach:

• Before the trip: Create a group and invite all travelers via share link
• During the trip: Log expenses as they happen using AI Scan (photograph receipts) or AI Quick Entry (type "Taxi 600")
• Rotate payments: Have different people pay for different things to keep balances manageable
• After the trip: Check the simplified debts and settle up with minimum transactions

For international trips, use the multi-currency feature to log expenses in the local currency.

AI Scan uses advanced computer vision (powered by OpenAI's Vision API) to photograph a receipt and automatically extract:

• Merchant/restaurant name
• Date of purchase
• Total amount
• Individual line items with prices
• Expense category
• Currency

Simply open the camera, point it at a bill, and the AI does the rest. You can review and edit any extracted details before saving the expense.

AI Quick Entry lets you log expenses by typing in natural language instead of filling out a form. Examples:

• "Dinner 450" - creates a food expense for 450
• "Uber to airport 850" - creates a transport expense for 850
• "Movie tickets 600" - creates an entertainment expense for 600
• "Groceries at BigBasket 1200" - creates a groceries expense for 1200

The AI understands context and automatically fills in the amount, category, and description. Simple entries are processed locally for instant results; complex ones use AI for accurate parsing.

Smart Categorization learns from your habits and from all users (anonymously) to automatically assign categories to your expenses. When you first use the app, it uses AI to categorize expenses. Over time, it learns patterns:

• If you categorize Zomato orders as "Food & Dining" a few times, it remembers
• Common merchants are pre-learned from other users' patterns
• If the AI gets it wrong, you can correct it and it learns from the correction

This system achieves high accuracy for common merchants and gets smarter the more you use it.

AI Spending Insights analyzes your expense patterns and provides personalized tips and a spending score. The AI looks at your spending across categories, compares trends over time, and offers actionable advice like:

• Category breakdowns showing where your money goes
• Month-over-month spending trends
• Personalized saving suggestions
• Unusual spending pattern alerts

Insights are generated fresh daily and updated when new expenses are added.

When you're ready to settle, go to the group and tap the settle/balance section. The app shows simplified debts - who owes whom and how much, with the minimum number of transactions. After making the payment (via UPI, bank transfer, cash, etc.), tap "Mark as Paid" in the app. Add an optional note about how you paid, and the settlement is recorded.

Split AI includes a dispute flow for settlements. If a member disagrees with a payment (for example, they believe the amount is wrong or the payment wasn't received), they can raise a dispute with a note explaining the issue. The other party can then review the dispute and resolve it. This keeps everything transparent and avoids misunderstandings.

Yes! Split AI lets you send gentle push notification reminders to group members who owe you money. No more awkward "hey, you owe me" messages. The app handles the nudge with a notification that shows the amount owed, keeping it professional and friendly.

Yes. We take data security seriously:

• All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (SSL/TLS)
• Data is stored in secure, encrypted cloud databases
• OTP codes expire after 10 minutes and are deleted after use
• Rate limiting prevents brute-force attacks
• We never sell your data to third parties

You can request account deletion by contacting us at admin@splitaiapp.com. All your personal data, expenses, group data, and uploaded receipts will be permanently deleted within 30 days of your request. Anonymized analytics data may be retained for service improvement.

Our AI features process the following data:

• AI Scan: Receipt images are sent to OpenAI's Vision API to extract text and structure
• AI Quick Entry: Your typed text is processed to extract expense details
• Smart Categorization: Expense descriptions are used to assign categories
• Spending Insights: Aggregated expense amounts and categories are analyzed for patterns

We cache results to minimize data sent to external APIs. Simple patterns are handled locally without any external AI call.
